Stephen; The Norr article was valuable and I sent him an e-mail.
Well richer, more powerful men than us will decide this, but not smarter, not smarter, Apple did not get where it is by smarter, dumber I agree, much dumber.
When they brought Amelio in that was a drop dead dumb idea. The Europeans are all full of proprietary stuff that is dying due to open standards. Phones, Modems, etc. Phillips, Bull, Olivetti and more threw away billions trying to make funny proprietary Wintels, with funny monitors and keyboards and plug in cards you could only buy from them. They flew like a real lead zeppelin, right down at high speed. Amelio must have thought he had fallen into heaven, he got paid a lot to be a stupid fool, and then he got paid a kings ransom to go away. Why is there no class action suit against Apple management for this? Why not fire him for imcompetence with no golden handshake?? He probably had a golden contract is why, which never should have been entered into. I would have been a better choice, and probably you and many other would have filled that job ably, and brought an open system into being.
Bill
