teacher's colleges used to be called normal

Every podunk college wants to be known as a "university" these days. My alma mater, San Diego State, is now "San Diego State University."

The only effective way to eliminate these colleges is to make the requirement for teaching a four year college degree in a major you are going to teach in, and OJT. Same as any other business you go into. If teachers weren't required to take these courses, nobody would, and the colleges that teach them would dry up.
