Robert the big problem is that large programs are slow. Corel has stated that users want lots of functions and therefore you need large programs.

One of the reasons the programs are slow is that to be truely 100% cross-platformable you have to go through a Java virtual machine, which interprets and executes the byte code which adds extra processing time to the program when it is interpreted. The JVM is what allows the Java program to be truely cross-platformable so you can't eliminate this step. But Sun is working on speeding this up with JIT and Java chips.

<They DO NOT know what they are doing.>

If Lotus Java offering is a big hit and runs as advertised and gets rave reviews then I might have to agree with you on this one. But till it's out and the reviews are in you are jumping to conclusion. I will be especially upset if Lotus is bundled with Suns Javastations.

Like I said before to break MS office strangle hold COJ is necessary.
I guess the concept is here but not the technology. It takes time for the technology to catch up and in the mean time Corel has to work with what it has now and if they want to build a bridge then that's fine with me.

Go Java GO
