I parade in a MG krewe [can't tell you which; if I did, I'd have to kill you], and it is a great opportunity to see friends, drink, have a good time, drink, look for family and friends on the parade route, drink, enjoy the crowds, drink, have a tremendous pre-parade luncheon, drink, and generally pass a good time. A fine time.
Parading in a very real sense fulfills a social responsibility. We're part of a show that brings a lot of cash into the city and indirectly provides employment and revenue to tons of people. We also keep a bit of culture alive which is not seen anywhere else in this increasingly homogenized nation.
