I used to respect the conservatism of T. Roosevelt......the pragmatism and fiscal responsibility of the right. No longer! If this country is to go the way of the NASCAR, so be it but it will be without my endorsement or support.
The left appears to be arrogant, egocentric, rigid, mean spirited, rude, obnoxious, mendacious, abusive, stalwartly partisan, clubby, and generally disregarding of any view not their own. The disdain from people on the left for the center and the right appears to be so great they cannot resist shouting it from the tops of their ivory towers. They make dismissive comments about those they cannot be bothered to learn from like "the right is made up of fundamentalists and evangelicals who believe they are superior". I have discovered that even the wisest person cannot learn while speaking. To learn, we must listen.
Is "I don't think I will ever vote for another GOPer as long as I live" the model of flexibility? The dismissive superior attitude shines is this statement "If this country is to go the way of the NASCAR, so be it but it will be without my endorsement or support." Tell me, are all blacks lazy, and Jewish people money-grubbers too? Stereotyping is so typically elitist! I have never been to a NASCAR race, and am unlikely to anytime soon.
It is true that I have little patience for people who say things like “perjury is ok if it is about sex.” It is like saying Theft is ok if it is for sex, or murder is ok if it is about sex. Our laws mostly distinguish based on motives during the punishment phase, not for conviction. Involuntary taking of life is an exception. If a law is not to your liking, change the laws, don’t state that perjury is ok sometimes. |
