In today's San Diego Union there is an article that states Airtouch is going to give 60 CDMA phones to delegates to the Republican National Convention to demonstrate their system. It further states that when they exit the CDMA area, the phones will use the analog system. The phones were built by the Sony/Qualcomm joint venture.
