I don't have that specific answer, but some statisticians did figure out recently that the average distance traveled by any morsel of food on the American plate is 1,200 miles*. That's a lot of diesel.

To me, that is a stunning statistic. If we were to think strategically, this is a vastly greater threat to national security than are a handful of incensed Arabs in Fallujah.
