Don't think it is nonsense. Why do bankruptcies occur? Because of the inability to have revenue cover the bills. Under the collective farm system it is thought that up to 10% of the wheat grown blew off the back of the trucks and ended up along the road. It is well known that other collectives frequently ballooned reports of their productivity (because the abysmal controls they had on inventory and inability to produce effectively). All of these are elements of efficient utilization of resources. They kept up with us militarily at 5.6% of GDP as opposed to 3% - yikes! That's like a company producing widgets at almost twice the cost of their main competitor.
