NEWS: CORRUPT REPUBLICAN SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE DeLay TROUBLES JUST GOT WORSE

dailykos.com

DeLay's troubles just got worse.

A company that made a $50,000 contribution to a Republican political action committee has agreed to cooperate with a state investigation into possible illegal campaign contributions in exchange for the dismissal of charges against it, according to a motion approved by a judge Thursday.
Diversified Collections Services, Inc. was one of eight corporations accused of giving a total of $190,000 to Texans for a Republican Majority during the 2002 legislative campaign. The use of corporate money for political purposes is illegal in Texas.

Ronnie Earle, the corruption-fighting district attorney taking on the DeLay machine, is seeing the fruits of his strategy.
His first grand jury indicted three close DeLay aides and a host of companies. The tactics were obvious -- force those indicted to serve up names higher up the food chain in exchange for leniency. Why should they take the bulled (life in prison, protentially) for DeLay?

The current grand jury is focusing on Republican speaker of the Texas House, Tom Craddick. Speculation has been that Earle will convene a third grand jury when he's ready to go after the bug squasher himself.

As The Stakeholder notes, what's really funny is that Diversified Collections Services turned on DeLay mere hours after he delivered to them a lucrative Christmas present.
