Energy Nominee Excited to Become Big Oil Croney
Scrappleface

(2004-12-10) -- President George Bush's Energy Secretary nominee, Sam Bodman, said today that his lack of oil industry background and connections should not keep him from becoming "a good-old-boy in the Bush-Cheney cabal of Big Oil cronies."

"I've heard about these mysterious guys who run the world and start all the wars," said Mr. Bodman, 66, who currently serves as deputy treasury secretary. "So, I could barely contain myself when the president asked me to join the club. It's like getting picked for Skull and Bones or the Trilateral Commission. I can't wait to learn the secret handshake."

Mr. Bodman said he's eager to "implement some of Vice President Cheney's ideas for achieving energy independence -- including a windmill that runs on oil, nuclear energy created by splitting petroleum atoms, and hydrogen fuel made from a mixture of oil and rendered Alaskan caribou."
