Britain National service No missed by about 3 years. Militia No Worked overseas for 3 years though. High moral fibre Innate, it's the only way to live. Volunteered in kid's soccer and baseball for many years. Blood donor for 30 years. Married for 38 years. Why national service? Basic training already completed in face of national emergency. Help available for 3rd world countries, do part of the national service overseas. Life experience broadened for many, travel, other classes of people. Teach some to become adults. Think of it as one more year of school with discipline. It's done in Switzerland, why not here. Switzerland have never been invaded and Germany is their neighbour and about 12 times the population.
