Thanks for mentioning the Canadian Geographic. As someone who lived in Zambia from 1965 to 1968 I know something about the place. You are right it was the Federation of the Rhodesias and Nyasaland before. Rhodesia was named of course after Cecil Rhodes. After independence the people naturally wanted to leave their colonial past somewhat behind. They chose Zambia as the name, I expect somewhat how we chose the Maple Leaf to be the flag in Canada. Their motto was and is "One Zambia, one Nation". I was an early investor in First Quantum and Anvil Mining because of this connection and have done very well. I have made many posts exhorting people to buy First Quantum, my first here was in 1999.
