10th December 2004 UPC to offer voice services by the end of Q1 2005 From Poland A.M.
UPC, the largest cable TV operator, wants to launch voice services in the first half of 2005.
According to Puls Biznesu, the company may offer so-called triple play services (television, Internet and voice services) in some large cities as soon as spring 2005. In Q3 2004 UPC Europe, which controls UPC, launched VoIP services in Hungary and the Netherlands and plans to expand on this market in other countries within the next 6-9 months. In Poland, UPC will probably offer voice services in cooperation with another telecommunications operator. "We are working on the voice services offer," said the UPC spokeswoman Dorota Zawadzka, "But it's too early to talk about the details." At the end of September this year UPC had 983,000 cable TV subscribers and 41,000 customers using its Internet access service. (Puls Biznesu, p. 10) E.B.
