The capital costs of a LNG plant still leaves a great amount of stranded gas in area where the amount of gas is not sufficient to justify an LNG plant.

This is why there is so much research going into gas waxification. The minimum efficient scale of this type of plant is much smaller than for LNG. Addi tonal cost savings are associated with wax transport and even in re-gasification plants.

An additional benefit is that there is far less potential danger associated with wax than with LNG so plants do not have to be restricted to uninhabited islands, as with LNG compression plants in Australia, or large exclusion zones.
