While Bush isn't Hitler, Bush's propaganda is the same sort of stuff as Hitler's. Let's face it- an appeal to frightened people, whether they are Germans in a demoralized Germany, or Americans in a post 9/11 America, is going to be remarkably similar. In order to remain free a people need to be relatively fearless. Where you let fear run your life, where you let an event like 9/11 "change everything" for you- you allow fascism to enter, and it enters using the pleasing face of being the protector who will guard you from that which you fear. The fearful and the reactionary will get the fascist leaders they deserve. It's too bad for the rest of us, but there it is.
