It is interesting that you see a negative reference to Bush as an insult to yourself.

That seems to be common on the right. While moderates or liberals can recognize the flaws in their politicians in an objective manner, those on the right seem to see politicians as demi-Gods whose virtues can never be called into question.

We saw this when Reagan died. While in office it is beyond question that the man was already sliding into senility, between the time he left office and his death the right had built him up to be the equal of Washington or Lincoln.

I don't think a cult-like following is a good thing for a U.S. president, as it removes any checks on his power.
