You go to war when you are prepared to go to war. You go to war when you have a strategy for winning the war. Both of which conditions held at the time when we went to war. We were far more ready then most countries have been in most wars, including America in most of its wars. As for a strategy to win we had that as well. It worked pretty well in our initial objective to remove Saddam from power. Having a strategy to win and being ready for war doesn't mean that everything falls neatly in to place. The enemy also has preparations and strategy, and will try his hardest to mess up yours. There is an old saying about war - “No plan survives contact with the enemy.” It's not 100% true but it expresses an important truth. Tim
