Jack,

Was your brother operating a Walmart?

Conjecture and anecdotal evidence does not make a case.

Walmart does look for rural sites with abundant labor for its distribution centers. Do a search on Google News for Walmart distribution center. Looked at a site in Utah that reported the following:

Starting pay is $11.40 an hour. With benefits, those are considered good jobs here.

The Utah piece discussed issues of traffic, but included this comment: That's a secondary issue to ..., whose husband currently earns $8.00 an hour.

A good scientific case against Walmart would line up similar enterprises and compare average employee wages and benefits and then do head to head comparisons of specific positions.

Show me such a study and maybe we can talk.

John
