True. And although a lot of the coarsened culture is regrettable, I don't really have much to propose as a solution. Certainly censorship is not the answer. Neither are bombs and guns, which seem to be radical Islam's solution. Plus there's a lot of wonderful material coming out of Hollywood, like the Shrek series, or Lord of the Rings. Perhaps we need to take the good with the bad.

As far as I'll go is to say we need to make it easier, not harder, for parents to keep control over what children are exposed to. And the hardest place to maintain that level of supervision is in public schools, which is why I think we need to make it easier for parents to opt out of them and into schools that share their values. I cringe a little bit at that, too, since IMO teaching children that the Earth is 6000 years does them a disservice not unlike teaching them that the Earth is flat and lies on the back of a giant turtle.
