Closer to 80%.

Huh?

Yes closer to 80%.

"Last week Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind., made a call to step up the production of armored Humvees. The senator said only 5,900 of the 19,000 Humvees in Iraq were manufactured as armored, called up-armored by the military.

Yes about 6000 where manufactured as armored. Another 9000 have had armor added to them.

Its not that many.......roughly a total of 13k humvees have been armored either to a level one or three readiness, or roughly 75%. The article I posted explains all that but unfortunately its now a dead link. Here's another article that addresses the issue but does not give the same exact numbers:

seattlepi.nwsource.com

Only 10 percent of trucks in Iraq have been armored.

Which is close to 10% more than the percentage of trucks in almost any army in almost any war that have been armored.

Does that really matter? Most people in Sudan don't get the small pox vaccine.......should we campare our inoculation efforts to them?

Also even the best armored trucks are still pretty vulnerable to any armor penetrating weapon. They might stop most regular bullet shots, but a heavier bullet (like that from a heavy machine gun), an armor penetrating bullet, a small cannon round, any RPG hit, or even a lucky shot (or numerous point black shots) from a regular rifle, will cause damage of or destruction of the vehicle.

Don't you think that every little bit helps.
