What you said doesn't quite make sense, michael. Of course, if one thinks the war is unjust, one will blame us for everything that happens due to it. But this is what I think you meant to say:

Wars, like other policies, often are surrounded by controversy. It is not enough for them to be controversial for them to be criminal. One must do justice to both sides of the argument, and when there is a doubt, give the benefit of the doubt to those who had to lead. That does mean abandoning one's views, necessarily, it means respecting the views of others, and admitting that reasonable and well- intended people may disagree.
