Kerry didn't do it the way Bush did. If he had, I'd be comparing his propaganda to Hitler's. Fear was not the central message for the democrats- and I guess it's too bad for them it wasn't. If it had been, they probably would have won. Fear is a great motivator- but it's what it motivates people to do that is the problem. IMO And it's worth bearing in mind what has happened when populations have succumbed to being driven by fear. (I know- people here will argue we aren't being driven by fear, but the mass marketing of fear in all the politcal ads belies that. Those polsters know what people want to buy, and they want to buy protection, protection from their fears- fears that were sold to them first, so that protection could be offered later. It's quite a neat sales trick- but i don't like it very much, and I don't think it makes the world a better place.)
