Tim, logic seems to be doing mathematics with words. Which is very tricky because word definitions are as slippery and slimy as a bucketful of hagfish and keeping it all in a sound structure is very hard work. The legal guilds try to construct logical systems, but fail miserably other than in broad senses. Which makes for huge income, confusion, appeals and appeals and appeals up to an arbitrary decision by a vote by the Supreme Court. I plead ignorance as a legal defence - I've never studied logic and my eyes glaze over when A = B - C = 3DE and therefore E = A deducted by some abstruse logical inductive process causing electrons to flow to the conclusion.
