I think if we do have a shot at some big time recruits we are still at the bottom of the list.

The style of play is so different than what I was used to growing up. The game is so much more physical now and the perennial shortfall that VT has always come short of is dominant inside play. When Stokes had the program he of course recognized that impediment and tried to recruit some inside guys like Terry Taylor, i.e. the "wide body" type and they were effective enough to come out with a winning season until Matthews graduated. What a player he was ! How did we recruit him?

However this year it seems like we are back to square one. We have no wide bodies and no dominant inside play, having out rebounded our first team the other evening when we outrebounded JMU. The new guy we got from the Netherlands, is tall but seems content shooting 15 foot jump shots instead of taking it inside, and he is 6'10'' approx. They say they have him in the weight room trying to bulk up...haven't we heard that before......
