This is where you go off base. Triangle is where we the fight is and it is an occupied zone whether you want to admit it or not. And we are viewed as the occupiers. Of course most iraqis dont want baath/terror solutions but they also do not want the US to dictate their future. Buchanan never said elections would not work--he just said post election was a good time to pass the baton especially if the new govt asks us to leave. If "We cannot make a firm commitment to leave until troop levels are sufficient among Iraqi security forces", we better damn well better increase our forces. Rumsfeld half ass approach is causing too many deaths both for us and for the iraqis. If you really believe what you say, you should support biden/mccain approach. It didnt work in vietnam but it may work here. But to me its almost criminal to replace virtually the entire cabinet and leave rummy in place. You should be angrier than i am because neocons have been smeared by poor operations rather than poor ideology. Why are you so stubborn in your support of this beancounter man?
