True, but the article is saying that serious reserves of Russian Oil have already been discovered using an "abiotic" approach with the implication that much more could be found globally if the basis on which most Western Oil Geology and Exploration is carried out was revised.

Sounds a tall order but with sufficient "extra supplies" the "peak theory" would itself be in need of revision.

One thing for sure is that nothing is going to alter perception or indeed markets for a long time. But interesting that clearly a lot of Russian academics believe this stuff and Russia is a major oil player.
