I didn't say prosperity. We live OK. A lot of our friends have more money than us. But we look "richer". I like to keep my friends guessing how we can afford more than them with the wife at home.

Our two bedroom apartment rent is on the low end. We live in a rent stabilized building. $500/m lease payment, Garage, Car and renters insurance, 2 vacations a year, kid has free school, occasional Whole Foods shopping. We withdraw some money from the trading account every now and then for bigger purchases...like a $5k watch I just bought myself for a round # birthday.

Yes, we have been tightening up lately,....but by no means do we live anywhere near poverty. I spend NO MONEY during the day. Only $3 on transportation. Bring lunch from home or eat what is offered in the office kitchen.

You just need to think a little and cut corners wherever you can. And look for deals when you need to splurge.
