Compliments of a Yahoo poster...

Comment from AG Edwards report last week on cardiovascular co's.

Vasogen (VSGN): Dr. Guillermo Torre-Amione reinforced our confidence in Celacade by
emphasizing the treatment’s benign safety profile and its compatibility with other treatments,
while alleviating potential concerns over administration. One of the concerns dogging Celacade
as an anti-inflammatory treatment has been its unusual method of administration. (Please see the
background description below.) While Dr. Torre-Amione admitted that physician education will
be critical to the treatment’s success, he also argued that the fact that the treatment is administered
only once per month makes it quite attractive. While this does involve drawing blood and
receiving an injection, this process is actually easier than adding another pill onto a daily
medication roster that may already contain 4-7 drugs for heart-failure patients. As evidence of the
procedure’s acceptance, Dr. Torre-Amione pointed out that not one of the patients in the Celacade
trials dropped out.

More importantly, Celacade’s safety profile is very strong and the treatment has been
compatible with other medications. These two points are critical, as high-blood pressure
treatments such as ACE inhibitors and beta blockers tend to have noticeable side effects.
Furthermore, heart disease patients are often on multiple medications, and there is always the risk
of unfavorable interaction amongst them. From this perspective, Celacade appears to be an ideal
add-on.
