you're right about that imo. i think the reason for this is the flattened yield curve.
we get support from expectations that it might begin to expand again, and headwind from the fact that it keeps flattening anyhow.

there are exactly 3 gold stocks today in the entire universe of senior and mid tier producers that have made an upmove commensurate to the move in the PoG ( CBJ, MDG & ABX ) . that's pretty dismal.
i may have overlooked one...

seems there isn't enough whining just yet.
i'm also looking for a rally on various technical grounds, but the pm stocks are pretty uncooperative to date. maybe we need one more lurch down in PoG to test the 430 support?

you're not even half as clever as you think. the gold stocks have been rallying ever since PoG had it's $20 down day last week, when they put in the low. as usual, they have led the PoG...even over this very short 5 trading day period.
of course the lead-lag relationship doesn't depend on what happens on signle trading day, or even several trading days in row. it's a general principle applicable over bigger time frames - however, even single day divergences are often telling.
