"What we are discussing here is deadly serious."

I agree.

...innocent people. It is just hard to find humor while people are being slaughtered -- excuse me for that.

Part of the reason for the gap in your very serious position and the very serious position of others on this thread can be attributed to loose use of descriptive terms.

For example: It is a widely accepted fact that the violent insurgent forces were held up in Falugia. Did they wear uniforms distinguishing themselves from 'innocents'? No. Who were the innocents? Well we could presume that they were those who wanted no part of the action. So, every effort was made to inform the residents of Falugia that a battle was eminent.

Many people left Falugia at that time and many did not. What innocent person would possibly remain in Falugia, knowing what was about to occur? Do you believe that there were thousands who could not leave? Ok maybe there were some. The battle lines were well publicised. Do you believe these people could not back away from the battle lines and remain clear of the action? Maybe a few got caught up in things and were actually 'innocent'. Do you believe they were targeted? I don't. Do you believe the insurgent forces could have facilitated their safe movement to a region outside of the battle? I do. Were they really innocent? Was it really the 'fault' of the US forces that many innocents got caught up in the heat of battle? It doesn't have the ring of truth to it... seriously.
