I LOVE the desert. I love snow in the desert. Joshua Tree - wasted much of my free time there as a youth (if one can call hanging out in a magical place like that "waste". Of course it's not.)

I'm not as rugged as I imagine myself to be, but have been in the out-of-doors all my life - but I prefer good weather and accommodations. It is the environs and the nearby presence of the wild that I like. My knees are a bit shot so it isn't as comfortable to go climbing up and down all those canyons as when I was 23.

My family - yikes! - they aren't rugged at all. But they like pretty views from the window of the chalet, I'm sure.
