What I would have liked the prosecution (or the defense, for that matter) to have done, was to contact the Bay Model, Army Corps of Engineers in Sausalito, CA.

The Bay Model, as its name implies, is a very sophisticated and precise replica of the underwater geography, tides and currents of the SF Bay. They use it to study environmental situations of "what" would flow "where" should some type of event happen (usually oil spills). The model is laid out quite accurately, takes up a couple large warehouses, fully detailed, if I recall correctly.

I believe you could make some reasonable estimate of the probability of Laci's/Conner's bodies washing up at "Point X" relative to Peterson's fishing "Point Y". Or make an estimation of where the bodies were dumped if not at Peterson's fishing location, by some coincidental third party perhaps.

At minimum, you'd have a little more hard evidence in a case that will be forever tainted as more circumstantial than not.
