PURPOSE: Oruvail Gel is a gel for rubbing into the skin and contains a substance called Ketoprofen. Ketoprofen is one of a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesics (NSAI). Oruvail Gel is used to relieve pain and reduce swelling in a number of conditions affecting the joints and muscles. Oruvail Gel works particularly well on inflammation of tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints due to trauma (e.g. sports injuries, sprains, strains and bruises), soft tissue rheumatism and localized rheumatic conditions, e.g. bursitis. For aches and pains, back, neck and shoulder pain. Oruvail Gel is available in 60gram tubes.
DOSAGE: The amount of Oruvail Gel needed per application will vary depending upon the size of the painful or swollen area being treated. You can apply Oruvail Gel 2 or 3 time a day unless your doctor advises other wise. You may notice a slight cooling effect when you rub the gel into the skin. Oruvail Gel is able to be used by all age groups. Gently rub a small amount of Oruvail Gel into the skin around the swollen or painful area.
ACTIVE INGREDIENT: Ketoprofen 2.5%.
ADVERSE REACTIONS: GI ulceration or bleeding; GI upset, pain; CNS disturbances incl headache, dizziness, convulsions; rash (discontinue); oedema; urinary tract irritation; tinnitus; visual disturbance; hypertension; renal effects; angioedema bronchospasm; anaphylactic reactions; Stevens-Johnson and Lyell syndrome; somnolence; jaundice, hepatitis; meningitis; haematological effects; others, see full PI.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Active peptic ulcer; chronic dyspepsia; severe renal, hepatic insufficiency; NSAID sensitive asthma and other allergies; 3rd trimester of pregnancy; do not apply to exudative dermatoses, infected skin lesions, broken skin.
WARNINGS/CAUTIONS: History of peptic ulcer; impaired cardiac, renal, hepatic function; mask infection; prolonged therapy; abnormal LFTs, history of hepatic function disease; pregnancy, lactation; elderly.
INTERACTIONS: Other protein bound drugs; anticoagulants, sulphonamides, hydontoins; lithium; methotrexate; diuretics; other NSAIDs, high dose aspirin; antihypertensives; thrombolytics; probenecid; gemeprost; pentoxifylline; IUDs.
Oruvail Gel is for exterior application only and NOT to be taken orally. Do NOT apply Oruvail Gel to cuts or open wounds or any other area where the skin is abnormal. After applying the gel do NOT cover with bandages or sticking plaster. Do NOT get Oruvail Gel into your eyes. If this happens wash your eyes out with clean water and seek immediate medical advice. If your symptoms do NOT improve within 2 weeks or they get worse seek immediate medical advice. Wash your hands directly after application (unless this is the intended site to be treated). |
