The Judge instructs the jury on the law, and does not tell them they can disregard the law.

All I know about jury instructions is that many an appeal seems to be based on them. In any event, here is what NY State has determined judges should say: nycourts.gov. If I had more time I'd try to find the passages that might apply, but since I don't, I'll leave that up to you since if might be enlightening.
