Great past few posts!

The most recent media hype may end up boding well for Redux. The heart valve problem may very well turn out to be related to phenteramine rather than fen or dexfen. The hype will/has caused a slow down in Xenical and other obesity drug approvals.

Redux may have some real medical side effects, but the risk is smaller than dying from an allergic reaction to penicillin (from what I have read). And with the other alternatives falling behind, Redux may come back as the answer!? By the way, I still haven't heard if anyone knows of the global incidence of side effects/deaths. Millions of cases out there.

The Prozac comparison is purely related to marketing. I remember hearing reports on the radio and thinking "Prozac will never get over this." Finally the media let go of it and people forgot. Patients never ask about it now.

Still, citicoline is the the future of IPIC. I have used Activase (tPa) once for an ischemic stroke in the past year. I know others have used it more. Everything must be just right. Most patients come in after the three hour window. If they come in sooner, they must be CT'ed, worked up and cleared by the neurologist (who are also hesitant) within three hours. The one I treated had an intracerebral hemorrhage but still got better. Citicoline hopefully is side effect free, and if so, will probably be "overused" (CYA prescribing). Big market!
