Las Vegas lost four players before the trading deadline. Catcher Geronimo Gil, outfielder Jeff Barry and pitchers Onan Masaoka and Kris Foster were shipped to other teams.

Barry's trade was the strangest. He was sent with Masaoka to the Chicago White Sox organization as part of a deal that brought pitcher James Baldwin to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the 51s' parent club.

The White Sox, however, thought they were getting pitcher Jonathan Berry, a 23-year-old with the Dodgers' Single-A affiliate. Chicago soon discovered the mix-up but declined to challenge the trade.

If you were going to claim you were supposed to get another Barry, why not Barry Bonds? <G>
