Is John the guy I met...

that's him. his position's officially open.
they wouldn't hire anyone before he left
so that means that the rest of us have to
do his work now and train a new person whenever
they're hired. i had planned to take a month
or two off this winter and go downsouth but
that'll have to wait till next year.

there are no promotions within - everyone is
an equal, multi-tasking fool doing every aspect
of production, direction, post-production,
master control, programming, r&d, self-training,
etc. like heinlein says, "specialization is for
insects." but i'm the only one who does the website,
just because of my interest and it gives me an
excuse to hang out on the computer... too much. <g>
the guys working there are a lot like you and
the rest of the NNBMers, self motivated, self taught,
independent, multi-talented, multi-taskers.

i don't know if it's coincidence or if they planned
it that way but today is also bill moyer's last day
in his TV job. i regard him and john both as highly
in character and integrity. working with john was one
of the things that made my workdays so enjoyable - he
was a great role model for creating a stress free work
environment. none of us would work in commercial media
even for a million bucks a year... we'd lose the integrity
component - without that you're a just a hired ho and next
thing you know you're taking drugs, knocking off circle K's,
and eventually even progressing to calling people names
on internet forums.
