Uh, the "insurgents" have condemned elections. They don't want then to take place at all. They aren't distrustful of the US - they oppose what say we are going to do because they don't want that. Some of them want renewed Baathist domination, some want a Sunni fundamentalist state like Taliban ruled Afghanistan. The vast majority of the Iraqi people want democracy and are peacefully looking forward to them.
