I was stunned to learn that they have a 2.7% unemployment rate. Never seen anything like that. Maybe it has to do somehow with being an island. Who knows?

George, my understanding of this situation is that there is enormous govt hiring in the UK.

One possible reason is an attempt to keep employment up to get Blair re-elected.

If someone from the UK is here I would appreciate some comments.
