Parents wanted to see it and didn't mind inflicting their children on the rest of the theater. It is impossible for that movie to hold a child's attention for more than thirty seconds. Drive-ins used to serve that market. My parents took me to a theater when I was a kid and I was such a pain-in-the-ass that they never took me to another one. We used to go to the drive-in instead. Bring your own soda and snacks, free mosquito coil, you couldn't beat it.
