Yes, you summed it all up perfectly. I like this one as well: "People simply cannot understand how the more one borrows the richer one is?"

I think at some level you are playing the devil's advocate, because I know you fully understand the dishonesty of the system, but correctly observe that to get anywhere, you have to go with the trend, the end of which cannot be known.

To that extent, I agree. But more and more attention is being focused on the problem, and that is my simple argument for gold. Perhaps buying an index fund or any particular stock or current bubble asset might be a better investment, but who knows. Twenty five years seems like a long time, but it isn't really, historically. But you have heard it all before.

I focus on the debt issue because I truly believe it is the achilles heal of our financial system now spreading world wide. The "technology" to create debt or liquidity is America's chief export and gift to the world which goes right along with American culture.
