Cheryl, I guess I need to work on my delivery. I am normally considered to be a good communicator, but somehow when I post here I do not seem to be able to connect with you. Some months ago, when I wrote what I thought were some very obviously sarcastic posts to Bill Wexler, you thought I was serious. Now, I am serious, and you think I am kidding?
My biggest fear about y2k breakdowns has been that we would lose most of our electrical power in the city. I find that prospect very frightening. I have been seriously thinking I needed to sell my house and move to the country, REALLY! I don't know what part of Houston you are in, but here in the suburbs of Dallas, I would hate to see the result of a prolonged blackout. Seriously, I think there would be a real crime/chaos/anarchy problem. The Mills piece made me feel more confident that we may not have that problem. I still think we will be in deep doo in other areas, but maybe not the worst case scenarios that are described in North or Yourdon sites. Maybe I should not have read "Triple Ought".
The problems are very real. I believe it. I am trying to avoid becoming a paranoid nut over this issue. (Did I mention that I have a tendency to be a little obsessive/compulsive?) My wife says that if I start buying camouflage clothing, she is leaving me. I'm really going to miss her.
