OK, neither Saddam nor OBL were CIA operatives.

We did once have common enemies however. Just as we once had common enemies with Stalin, etc.

Furthermore, the relatively piddling amount of US aid to Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war has nothing to do with the present situation in Iraq. And US opposition to Soviet occupation of Afghanistan has nothing to do with the current WOT.
