"I don't think I said stupid."

What part of 'When I say "you" or "your", I am speaking generally of proponents of gay marriage, not you personally' did you not understand?

The point is, you don't change people's minds by angrily stomping around, telling them they're bigots and that you're going to force change upon them whether they like it or not. Few on the left seem to understand that - that's why they keep losing elections.

"It's pretty obvious that discrimination is what you and society use to define marriage narrowly"

I'm not defining it at all. In fact, I have no problem with society choosing to treat a legal union between two people of the same sex the same as it does one between two of opposite sex. But as YOU said - society created the institution of marriage. That being the case, it is within the power of society to define it and if a minority wants to change it, they need to persuade society.

BTW, I do not agree that society declining to redefine marriage in any way constitutes discrimination against a "class" of people. Are a number of people who want society to allow polygamous marriages a "class" in the context of discrimination? No. Just because a number of people hold a common objective, that does not make them a "class".

Marriage IS whatever society says it is and if you don't meet the conditions for a marriage license, you don't get one. No "class" discrimination there.
