I understand your reference Ro 13:8 being out of context, however, in the larger context of the Bible I do not find it so. The borrower is indeed slave to the lender. When the new patriot act (phase 2) is implemented this coming year and the national ID card becomes the "coin of the realm" them we will see another notch in the total control system implemented. The next step could be removal of hard(LOL!) curency but I doubt it. With RFID or similar technology the US$ is easily scanned as it changes hands. The government will know how much money you have in your pocket each and every day. The truth is that Christians by and large in the USA are serving Mammon more than christ. That is a snare that will come upon the whole world. If our hands are in that cookie jar when the lid closes...it will be VERY hard to get it out. Debt is a major tool of Mammon. Jews weren't allowed to charge each other interest in the Old Testament. Debts were wiped out every 7 years and all land returned to the original owner every 50 years. Sounds like God knew how we would lord it over each other through greed so he had the perfect solution. Too bad it isn't that way now.
