I have really learned about debt through experience. If one is in debt, then one must "let your yea be yea." IOW, you borrowed you must repay. God honors the man that swears to his own hurt and changes not. We must keep our word...which is why James cautions us strongly to be swift to hear and slow to speak. Now, for those caught in the debt trap, how easy is it to fleee to the mountains should the need arise? How easy is it to go wherever God might want you to or to do whatever God might want you to do if you are trapped in debt?

The primary reasons for debt are simply wanting something that one cannot afford at the time. Who do Christians borrow from? We are cautioned by Jesus to

Lu 6:35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

So a Christian should not expect to ever be repaid....just give. So we borrow from non-believers who are want to exact every last penny. Debt is an entanglement best avoided at all costs. What is so important to a Christian that he needs to borrow for it rather than save or just trust God?
