Two recent events should have had a positive influence on the dollar but did not:
first the renewed assurance of Pres. Bush of his intention to halve the budget deficit by cutting expenses. I guess the market is waiting to see if one can really detect solid proof of carrying these intentions out which should be visible in the new budget proposal.
second: for the first time after 5 reductions the leading indicators are showing an increase meaning that the economy will continue to improve further. And a growing economy would increase tax revenue which would reduce the budget deficit on the income side.
Apparently the market does not trust neither indicators nor Bush's promises. Fred
