I think of the ones you mentioned, it was ko that gave you the best return. It has really done well over the years. T was good to me for a while, got out at 62 before it went down. However, of course LU has been fantastic (I dont have any).
MCD gave me enough to help my son buy a house last Dec. I havent bought it again since then. I do have some intel, bought a few months before the latest split, and dell and compaq bought just before the split. They are great but noone knows yet if they will be long term like ko and pg. If a company stays strong buy and hold is much much more relaxing for the shareholder than trading.
I recently bought 100 shares of a oil and gas exploring co, UTI. Hope for great things when the institutions find it. Time will tell!
Its certainly more interesting since the advent of the computer. We get access to so much information immediately available about the companies. Amazing!
