The only frosting I do well at all is chocolate, and that's because I always fail on the first attempt, and doctor it heavily with melted milk chocolate candy, something nice like bulk Valrhonoa or Ghirardelli, and more cocoa powder. It works! But is very thick.

For my mother's 40th birthday, I made her a yellow cake with chocolate frosting, and put 41 candles on top (1 to grow on) and we lit them all.

They melted the frosting, which slid entirely off the top of the cake, down the sides onto the plate, and out of the plate, onto the table.

We still laugh at the memory!
