Swine is reared in similar conditions to those described for turkeys. We were working in a farming community early last year that raise a lot of swine and I found it somewhat shocking to see a stock trailer load of 60 pigs stop while the farmer changed a tire by our rig. That trailer load of animals was outside in 20 below weather in bright sunshine, the ones to the outside walls of the trailer were peeping out and you could see the light hurt their eyes. This trip outside was the first and last time they would ever be exposed to the light of day and then bounced down a road for 80 miles to be unloaded at a slaughter house to be shot in the head.
